COMPANIONSHIP CAN BE THERAPEUTIC.
Compeer Rochester’s Adult Program pairs community volunteers with adults living with mental health challenges. Compeer Rochester offers three different Adult Programs. All programs offered are to enrich and promote social and mental wellness to adults with mental health challenges.
Participating adults are referred to Compeer by mental health professionals who know that the friendship and mentoring we provide can be profoundly therapeutic against the isolation, anxiety, and other painful elements of mental illness. Our goal is that the volunteer/adult match be a source of wellness for both.
In Compeer Rochester’s Adult 1:1 Program, volunteers and adults spend four hours a month together out in the Greater Rochester community, enjoying our region’s rich cultural, recreational, and educational offerings and opportunities such as museums, parks, music and art, cafes and restaurants, sports venues, and much more!
Our Adult Program also offers Compeer Calling, through which volunteers make regular calls to adults. Some adults in this program are awaiting a 1:1 match, while other prefer this engagement.
Our special volunteers are thoroughly screened and trained, matched through preferences, and supported every step of the way by Compeer Rochester staff.
